The Modus is small, portable and cost effective, and provides the answer to the need for a "real world" RF signal on the desk of every video software and hardware development engineer.

Key to these systems is CellMetric's Digital Radio architecture and "Application Specific I/Q™" modules which allow efficient customisation of this architecture using plug and play COFDM channel coders.

Designed for broadcasters, silicon, set top box and mobile video handset developers Modus 3 provides DAB, DVB-T and DVB-H RF modulated test signals in the 174 MHz to 2 GHz band. Modus 4 adds DVB-S, DVB-DSNG and DVB-S2 generation. Test signals are available at IF, I/Q and RF interfaces, with the option to introduce programmable fading and attenuation in the signal path.

DVB signals can be generated from live feeds via ASI or SPI interfaces. Additionally pre recorded and highly repeatable I/Q and Transport Stream test files can re replayed from internal hard disk, Compact Flash and USB 2.0 memory options.

When connected to a host PC via its USB2.0 interface Modus emulates a hard drive for simple test file management and includes a remote control graphical user Interface option with defined API.

DVB Composer

DVB - Composer is a PC based software application which creates DVB transport streams. Deigned to emulate a transmission headend, Composer takes pre encoded audio and video content and generates standards complaint DVB Transport Streams.

DVB Composer currently supports generation of streams to the following standards:

DVB-H: OAI/IDPC format
OMA BCAST format
OMA BCST Interactive
DVB-T: UK Freeview format


DVB Composer is designed to work seamlessly with the Modus 3 RF Network Emulator.

Modus 6 Fast IQ Network Emulator

Modus 6 is a fast RF I/Q vector signal generator with both frequency agile RF output and 16 bit analogue I/Q baseband outputs. RF output covers the band 100 MHz to 2.2 GHz enabling play out of both analogue TV, digital TV and cellular communications waveforms.

Modus 6 has an extremely deep I/Q vector storage capability, an internal hard disk provides 32 GByte of storage, with a maximum playout size of 32Gbyte.

Maximum play out sample rate is >12 complex (I&Q) Msaples per second, enabling support for both 6, 7 and 8 MHz video bandwidths and up to 10 MHz cellular channels.

Modus 6 LTE

CellMetric’s Modus 6 Fast IQ network emulator combined with LTE Composer is designed to provide cost effective, simple to use digital modulation and RF channel simulation for LTE network operators, silicon and software developers, sales demonstration and production test systems.

CellMetric’s LTE test solution is compliant with Release 8 of the Third Generation Partnership Project standard (3GPP) and supports both Time Domain Duplex (TDD) and Frequency Domain Duplex (FDD) modes.

CellMetric’s LTE base station signal source consists of one or more Modus 6 air interface units providing the RF transmission and LTE Composer, a PC based application which generates the transmit protocol and RF transmission scenarios to simulate a base station transmission. A combination of the two tools provide a highly flexible, comprehensive and cost effective solution for LTE handset development and testing..

Radius 4 DVB-T/H Micro Base Station

DVB-H video transmission to mobile phones requires a macro cellular architecture of low power transmission bases.

The CellMetric Radius 4 DVB-T/H mobile base station provides a trials solution for low power stand alone base stations. Inputs include
  • ASI transport stream interfaces
  • Hard Disk for pre recoded transport streams
  • Ethernet packetised IP interface
  • RF Interfaces for DVB-T or DVB-S feeds

 

Future options include

Output is 1Watt in the VHF/UHF band.

The Radius 4 DVB-T/H base station is rugged, waterproof and convection cooled and only requires a mains power supply to get a DVB-T/H transmission up and running.
